Because the ocean is vast and we have a sense of the enormous life that stirs beneath its surface, this body of water is a classic symbol of delving into what lies below the surface of the unconscious. Being on a ship crossing the ocean can represent changes related to emotions and feelings. The behavior of the sea can reflect our emotional well being.
