The idea of ‘coming clean’ or removing ‘dirt’ from an object can suggest either being intimate, truthful or avoiding ‘dirty’ or sexual feelings. The symbol that is being cleaned can shed further light on what this is. If it is clothes, then you are ‘renewing’ an outworn attitude.
